A three-story, 309,500-square-foot office building may soon be erected on the site of a former synagogue in Kendall.

9408 Southwest 87th Avenue

Developer Galloway Road Partners submitted a pre-application to Miami-Dade County for the project in late June, according to the South Florida Business Journal. Bet Breira/Samu El Or Olom Jewish organization sold the 4.4-acre site at 9408 Southwest 87th Avenue and 8790 Southwest 94th Street, near Baptist Hospital, in August 2016 for $5.35 million to Juan Carlos Mas and Albert J. Perez, owners of Galloway Road Partners.

Mas is the chairman of the Mas Group, which has investments in both the healthcare and real estate industries. He is also the former CEO of Neff Corp, a national construction equipment rental company.

Modis Architects designed the office building site plan that includes an office space and parking garage with 613 spaces, according to the South Florida Business Journal.

The pre-application will allow for feedback from the county before officially submitting an application. The county has already approved a development plan for the site to allow for the developer to build office spaces. The synagogue had called 9408 Southwest 87th Avenue home for more than 30 years.
