South Florida Among The Top Areas For Investors

Investors have begun to recognize the growth potential of middle markets, but do they know where the best of those markets lie?

recent study by Malartu analyzes America’s top 10 metropolitan areas with the highest-potential middle markets, and the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metro area made the list.

Florida markets make up half of the total list of 10 metro areas, including Tampa, Fort Myers, Orlando and Sarasota.

Middle markets are fast-growing markets composed of intermediate-sized businesses that bring in anywhere between $10 million and $1 billion in annual revenue. These firms are relatively low profile but possess high growth potential, as they are on the upward slope toward becoming big businesses, with the raw startup phase already under their belts. Hence the attractiveness for investment firms.

Data from the National Center for the Middle Market affirms that attention paid these firms is not attention wasted. Nationally, middle market revenue experienced 9.2 percent growth in the first quarter of 2017, outperforming the S&P 500 Index, which grew by 5.8 percent over the same period. More statistics on the U.S. middle market sector are available here.

The chart below outlines the most profitable middle markets and their strongest industries.
